The Faculty of Pediatrics of the Omsk State Medical University was established in 1931. Nowadays, 909 students are being trained at the Faculty.
 
The education process is regulated by the Order N 853 dated August 17th, 2015 designed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation “On Approval of Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Education in Specialty Pediatrics 31.05.02 (the Specialist’s Program)”. The Specialist’s Program Pediatrics (6 years) encompasses learning goals and outcomes, content, conditions and teaching/learning technologies, and quality assessment of graduates’ training.
 
The objective of the Specialist’s Program Pediatrics is to train highly qualified specialists able to solve their professional tasks in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, psychology and pedagogics, management, and research based on the formed professional competencies.
 
Pediatricians deal with prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases in children from birth to the age of 18.
 
Pediatricians are involved in various fields of medicine working as allergologists, anesthesiologists, gastroenterologists, hematologists, geneticists, obstetricians and gynecologists, dermatovenerologists, pediatric surgeons, pediatric endocrinologists, pediatric cardiologists and neurologists, nephrologists, pediatric oncologists, and many other specialties.
 
The training is provided not only by pediatric departments but also by departments on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of some adult diseases. In this regard in hospitals the classrooms are equipped for admission and demonstration of patients, and necessary facilities to provide medical care to patients with different pathologies.
 
 
Apart from the lectures, seminars and practical classes the students have the clerkships starting from the junior medical staff (a 1st year study); the clerkships Nurse’s Assistant in Wards and Nurse’s Assistant in Procedure Rooms (the 4th and 6th terms respectively); then  the clerkships (in hospitals) and the Research Clerkship (the 11th term).
