Xinjiang Medical University: Visit to the OSMU Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, visit to the Ezramed Clinic. Official meeting with Omsk State Medical University Rector M.A. Livzan (November 24 - December 7, 2025).

From November 24 to 28, the Chinese delegation continued its program at the Omsk Regional Clinical Hospital, at the OSMU Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, including Postgraduate Training Courses.

The first day began with a visit to the Department of Neurorehabilitation, where the guests were welcomed by Head of Department, Elina A. MELNIK. The Department, which has been functioning for over fifty years, preserves the legacy of early rehabilitation methods used during the recovery period after acute cerebrovascular accidents, and injuries of the central and peripheral nervous system. In this sense, the Department is not only a clinical unit but also a living museum of Russian neurorehabilitation.

Of particular interest to the guests were the first rehabilitation simulators from the Soviet era. These sparked active discussions about the timeless principles of therapeutic physical training that transcend both eras and cultures. The Department’s staff also introduced the visitors to massage techniques for neurological patients, the basics of acupuncture therapy, and the application of botulinum toxin therapy.

One of the most memorable experiences was the visit to the «rehabilitation apartment» - a specially equipped room simulating a real home environment. Here, patients who have lost their self-care skills due to neurological diseases can practice daily life activities in a safe and realistic setting. The guests praised this initiative, noting that the space, created by the hands of the department’s specialists, provides a comfortable and efficient environment for recovery.

In the following days, the delegation visited Neurology Department № 1 and the unit for patients with progressive neurological disorders. The interaction with local doctors and residents turned into an informal and productive exchange of clinical experience. In an atmosphere of professional dialogue, both sides discussed traditional Chinese medicine and Western treatment approaches.

Each day involved analysis of real clinical cases, where the participants from Omsk and China jointly reviewed diagnostic and therapeutic strategies, highlighting the strengths of both systems. During a series of clinical case discussions, Chinese specialists advised Omsk doctors, offering insights from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine to refine diagnostic reasoning and therapeutic direction.

On November 24, an official meeting was held between the delegation and Rector of OSMU, Prof. Maria A. LIVZAN. Both parties emphasized the high level of cooperation achieved and explored the potential for future joint projects. At the conclusion of the visit, participants noted the exceptional productivity of the two-month program and expressed their readiness to continue developing bilateral cooperation. Representatives of Xinjiang Medical University underlined the value of experience exchange and thanked the leadership and staff of OSMU for their professionalism, warm hospitality, and rich, thoughtfully curated program.

On November 29, the Chinese specialists attended an extraordinary musical event - a candlelight concert at the Omsk Concert Hall. The performance took place in a truly unique setting: instead of the usual bright stage lights, the hall was lit solely by the gentle flicker of hundreds of candles, creating an enchanting and almost mystical atmosphere. After the concert, the guests shared their impressions, noting how the format allowed them to rediscover familiar works of classical music. In near darkness, under soft candlelight, the music took on new colors, each note felt more intense, and the melodies revealed unexpected emotional depth.

From December 1 to 5, the delegation visited the Medical Rehabilitation Center and the City Perinatal Clinical Center. The program included an introduction to modern rehabilitation protocols for both children and adults, and methods of physiotherapy for pregnant women.
On December 5, the final point of the visit was a tour of the EzraMed clinic, where special attention was paid to the practical aspects of interdisciplinary rehabilitation.
