There are about five thousand foreign students studying at Omsk universities. Due to restrictive measures because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the new academic year for these students will begin via distance learning from September 1. Today, the Government of Omsk Region will discuss the problem of bringing foreign students back to study: a special «corridor» will be opened for them to cross the border.
The day before, Omsk State Medical University held an unscheduled meeting of the Council of Rectors chaired by Maria A. Livzan. Representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, Rospotrebnadzor and the FSB Border Troops also attended the meeting. Meeting participants discussed the details of upcoming events.
Within several weeks, the controlled groups of students will be transferred to Omsk. The date of the «corridor» opening will be announced soon. However, students should stay self-isolated for two weeks after coming back to Russia before returning back to classrooms.
