"Burning Issues of Disaster Medicine and Life Safety"

 
On May 7, OSMU Department of Extreme and Evidence-Based Medicine held the annual Interuniversity Scientific Conference "Burning Issues of Disaster Medicine and Life Safety".
The conference was organized jointly with the Omsk Armored Engineering Institute (OAEI), Omsk State Pedagogical University, Orenburg State Medical University, Voronezh State Medical University, RUDN. Students from the Republic of Chad, Burkina Faso, the Republic of Gambia, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Angola also took an active part in the Conference.
 
Research papers were presented in the following specialized areas of the department:
– "Disaster Medicine" (1st place - Matvey KOROTCHENKO, 5th year student of the OSMU Faculty of Dentistry, Arina YATSENKO, 2nd year student of the OSMU Faculty of Pediatrics);
– international direction "Man and Environment" (1st place - Kongo Taluota, Nanema Wendigudi Boris Florus, OAEI, Burkina Faso);
– interdisciplinary section (1st place - Tatyana YAKUBENKO, 4th year student of the OSMU Faculty of General Medicine);
– competition of scientific poster presentations in the direction of "Disaster Medicine, Life Safety in Emergencies" (1st place - Evgeny LISOV, OAEI; Alina BAGAUTDINOVA, Mahamat Abakar Yussuf WARU (Republic of Chad); Valeria GROKHOTOVA, RUDN; Tatyana YAKUBENKO, 4th year student of the OSMU Faculty of General Medicine);
- a competition of innovative projects of students in the field of "Disaster Medicine, Life Safety in Emergencies" (1st place - Elena Loginova, 1st year resident of OSMU, Tatyana YAKUBENKO, 4th year student of the OSMU Faculty of General Medicine).
- This year, the range of scientific research presented at the Conference has expanded. There were a lot of works on current issues of disaster medicine related to algorithms for providing assistance in wartime emergencies. Participants from other countries shared approaches to the formation of first aid kits for their military personnel, methods of water disinfection in extreme conditions. I would like to note the projects of students from the RUDN University and the performances of students from the Voronezh State Medical University, who demonstrated not only the most modern technologies in disaster medicine, but also had excellent skills making presentations, - commented Natalia V. Semenova, MD, PhD, Assoc. Prof. of the OSMU Department of Extreme and Evidence-Based Medicine, Deputy Chairperson of the Conference Organizing Committee.
