Burning Issues of the Diagnosis and Treatment of Gastrointestinal Diseases

 
OSMU hosted the Scientific Conference, "Burning issues of the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases" which brought together physicians, gastroenterologists, general practitioners, and PhD students and residents of our university.
 
The speakers were the leading specialists in gastroenterology from medical universities of Omsk and Novosibirsk. OSMU was represented by Prof.   Maria A. LIVZAN, MD, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Rector of OSMU, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine (Intermediate Level) and Gastroenterology, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Olga V. GAUS, MD, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Prof. of the Department of Internal Medicine (Intermediate Level) and Gastroenterology; Galiya R. BIKBAVOVA, MD, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Prof. of the Department of Internal Medicine (Advanced Level) and Endocrinology; and Elena A. LYALYUKOVA, MD, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Prof. of the Department of Internal and Family Medicine, including Postgraduate Training Courses.
 
On behalf of the Novosibirsk State Medical University, Prof. Marina F. OSIPENKO, MD, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases, presented a report on the differential diagnosis of abdominal pain syndrome.
 
The leading speaker of the event was Maria A.   LIVZAN, who discussed progress in the treatment of digestive diseases, differential diagnosis and treatment of biliary tract pathology, the role of probiotics in the management of patients with IBS, and cholestasis syndrome.
 
Galiya R. BIKBAVOVA touched upon the role of probiotics in clinical practice, Olga V. GAUS told about common and rare clinical patterns of gastritis and duodenitis association, and Elena A. LYALYUKOVA discussed chronic pancreatitis as a focus of attention. Daria A.   GAVRILENKO, Prof. Asst. of the Department of Internal Medicine (Intermediate Level) and Gastroenterology, concluded the conference by presenting a report on the key mechanisms of comorbidity in IBS and functional dyspepsia.
 
Following the conference, attendees asked questions, demonstrating the relevance of the raised topics. The event provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge and practical experience on the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, both in real-world clinical practice and in the future, taking into account rapidly evolving understanding of disease pathogenesis and targeted therapy.
