On March 25, school seniors from rural areas participating in the Regional Pilot Project «Precise Start: Rural Doctor» visited OSMU for a career guidance event organized by the OSMU Pre-University Training and Career Center in collaboration with the OSMU Department of Human Anatomy.
The main focus of the visit was a guided tour of the Department’s Museum, aimed at reinforcing the students’ understanding of human anatomy. Roman S. VASILYEV, MD, Prof. Asst. of the Department of Human Anatomy, introduced the students to the museum’s history and its unique collection of anatomical specimens. The tour offered a closer look at the structure of human organs and systems, the causes of congenital and acquired diseases, and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The students also had the opportunity to ask questions about medical professions and academic programs at OSMU.
The day continued with a meeting between the prospective students and the Deans of the General Medicine and Pediatrics Faculties - Prof. Oleg I. LEBEDEV, MD, PhD, and Assoc. Prof. Natalia A. POLYANSKAYA, MD, PhD. The Deans presented their Faculties, shared insights into student life at OSMU, opportunities for scientific involvement, and career prospects in medicine.
Since most of the participants plan to return to their hometowns in the Omsk Region after graduation, special attention was given to targeted enrollment. Assoc. Prof. Irina A. KIRSHINA, MD, PhD, Executive Secretary of the OSMU Admissions Committee, explained the specific requirements and benefits of target enrollment. The event also featured a presentation by Alfiya R. SHCHEKATUROVA, Advisor for Medical Education and Healthcare Personnel Policy at the Ministry of Health of the Omsk Region, who spoke about the process of signing targeted training contracts.
The «Precise Start» pilot project is designed to enhance the staffing of rural medical institutions with qualified professionals. OSMU serves as the project’s developer and lead institution. Key partners include the Government and Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region, the S.I. Manyakin Development Fund, and municipal administrations of participating districts. OSMU continues to closely collaborate with the Ministry of Health of the Omsk Region to implement the project.
