Life is just beginning at 100!
In the year of the centenary of our University, we are looking forward with a special feeling to applicants who have successfully passed the competitive selection process and who were enrolled in the ranks of students of Omsk State Medical University. An unusual year, extraordinary recruitment, and a special aura. The new coronavirus infection could not interfere with our plans, but worries that required additional mental strength emerged to the feeling of celebration.
The beginning of the academic year is not shifted – classes will begin in the academic buildings of the University on September 1. Preventive measures will be added to the regular routine: temperature measuring at the entrance and during the day, obligatory wearing of face masks, hand hygiene. Future doctors must think about their health and the health of those who are around them. Foreign students will also face difficulties: while the borders are closed, they will study via distance learning. Senior students, whose classes had to be held at healthcare organizations converted into coronavirus medical centers, will also study via distance learning. But as soon as these healthcare organizations are converted back, we will return back to regular routine.
The hundredth student recruitment was unusual in all respects – the Admissions Committee worked completely remotely, even the Open Day was held remotely. Call centers worked so that not only applicants, but also their relatives could get any information quickly. Applicants in 2020 had to experience both remote graduation from school and remote admission campaign at the University. However, nothing has changed in our conception of learning. We are still convinced that the development of both the Medical University and the healthcare system as a whole directly depends on our graduates. For our part, we will try to do everything to make this responsible and very important period of a student's life filled with the latest educational technologies, science, and interesting extracurricular activities: namely cultural, sports, and volunteer ones.
You need to make a great effort in order to be worthy of the title «graduate of Omsk State Medical University». In their turn, our teachers will try their best to put their knowledge and soul into everyone who has crossed the threshold of the University.
I would like to wish the students perseverance in achieving a goal, additional motivation (it has to be very strong to cope with the educational process), success in their academic and extracurricular activities, and, of course, health. You need to become a happy person to fulfill yourself in the profession!

Dear Students!
Congratulations on the beginning of the new academic year! September 1st is traditionally considered to be the Knowledge Day, which starts a new period in everyone's life. The usual excitement of meeting freshmen, the joy of the fact that our University once again will be filled with student life, energy, fun and new ideas, is connected to a very difficult task this year – to create conditions for preventing the spread of coronavirus infection in implementing educational process, and to maintain your health and the health of university employees.
We will carry out the educational process with observance of all epidemiological safety measures. We count on your deep understanding of the current situation and responsible attitude towards new rules. We will be able to maintain the high quality of education and continue our development successfully only by our joint efforts.
We wish you success in the new academic year! Let it bring you a lot of positive impressions, fruitful results and new discoveries!

Dear 1st Year Students!
I sincerely congratulate you on a significant event in your life! Today you have turned from former school students into medical students; you have taken the first step into the profession.
During the years of studying at our University, you will acquire necessary knowledge about modern medicine and practical skills, learn to make decisions on your own, that affect not only a person's health, but also his life. The career you have chosen is the most important and noble in the world. Further some of you will become surgeons; some of you will become pediatricians, or maybe obstetrician-gynecologists. But each of you will have an aim to save people. A doctor is not only a profession; it is a vocation that you will follow all your life. This is a hard and sometimes thankless work, and also a huge responsibility.
Medical knowledge is constantly deepening and changing, medical science does not stand still, breakthroughs are being made, new diagnostic methods and treatment of diseases that seemed incurable yesterday are emerging now. Your studying at the university is just the beginning of a long way. As the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said: "Even a journey of a thousand miles begins with one small step". Never stop on this path, strive for new knowledge and experience, overcome yourself, and appreciate your teachers and mentors!
Dear friends! With all of my heart, I wish you to carry your interest in your chosen profession through the whole life!
