On April 2023, on the initiative of Prof. Andrey A. STAFEEV, DMD, PhD, Head of the Prosthodontics Department of OSMU, and Prof. Igor Yu. LEBEDENKO, DMD, PhD, Honored Worker of Science of Russia, Head of the Prosthodontics Department of RUDN, it was decided to analyze the performance level of student research in prosthodontics at medical universities in Russia and CIS countries. This initiative was approved and supported by the leading professors of Russia and the directorship of the Russian Dental Association (StAR). The primary regional competitions of student work were held in the following regions: North-West Region, Central Region, Volga Region, South Region, Ural and West Siberian Region, Primorsky and Far Eastern Region, and CIS countries.
On March 29, 2024, the I International Competition of Students’ Scientific Research in Prosthodontics in Memory of V.N. Kopeikin in Ural and Siberia was held in the Omsk Clinical Dental Clinics №1. The event was organized by OSMU Department of Prosthodontics and Scientific Society for Young Scientists and Students, and gathered participants from Omsk, Perm, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Barnaul, and Chelyabinsk.
The jury panel included Prof. N.B. ASTASHIN, DMD, PhD, Head of the Prosthodontics Department of Perm State Medical University named after Academician E. A. Wagner; A.V. DELETS, DMD, PhD, Deputy Dean of the Dentistry Faculty of South Ural State Medical University; N.A. IVANOVA, DMD, PhD, Head of the Prosthodontics Department of Novosibirsk State Medical University; M.S. MIRZOEVA, DMD, PhD, Assoc. Prof. of the Prosthodontics and Preventive Dentistry Department of Ural State Medical University; Prof. O.V. ORESHAK, DMD, PhD, Head of the Prosthodontics Department of Altai State Medical University; and Prof. Andrey A. STAFEEV, DMD, PhD, Head of the Prosthodontics Department of OSMU.
OSMU was represented by 5th-year students of the Dentistry Faculty: Sofia V.LAPENKO (Academic advisors: Sergey I. SOLOVIEV, DMD, PhD, Asst. Prof. of the Prosthodontics Department, Prof. Andrey A. STAFEEV, DMD, PhD, Head of the Prosthodontics Department, Rustam Sh. KASENOV, DMD, Asst. Prof. of the Prosthodontics Department) and Alina-Dolores A.SHENKNEKHT (Academic advisors: Sergey I. SOLOVIEV, DMD, PhD, Asst. Prof. of the Prosthodontics Department, Prof. Andrey A. STAFEEV, DMD, PhD, Head of the Prosthodontics Department).
The work of Sofia LAPENKO entitled «Digital planning of selective teeth grinding» was unanimously awarded the 1st place Diploma. The 3rd place Diploma was given to Alina-Dolores SHENKNEKHT who presented the report «Comparative analysis of the precision of optical impressions from the platform level of dental implants».
All winners will take part in the Final of the Forum which will be held as part of Dental Expo under the aegis of StAR on April 23 at Crocus Expo in Moscow.
