On December 16-17, 2022, Samarkand State Medical Institute hosted the III International Olympiad for Students of Medical Universities «Samarkand-2022». It included the contest of video self-presentations, competition of young scientists’ projects, and subject competitions in 34 sections of fundamental and clinical medicine, held both online and in person.
The event brought together more than 3000 students and 120 academic advisors from 76 medical universities of France, Poland, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.
88 contestants took part in the online pediatrics competition. Our university was represented by Kristina V. POPOVKSAYA, 6th-year student of the Pediatrics Faculty. Her academic advisor is Olga A. SAVCHENKO, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Pediatrics (Advanced Course) Department. Kristina POPOVSKAYA successfully passed all stages of the competition (online testing, answering a theoretical question, solving a clinical case, and describing the steps of practical skill) and by the total amount of points for all stages she was awarded the 2nd-place diploma.
