On March 16-18, 2023, OSMU hosted I Interregional Student Olympiad on Human Anatomy and XIII Student Olympiad on Surgery for Students of Siberian Federal District, which attracted teams from five and four medical universities, respectively. The events were aimed at evaluating and improving theoretical and practical knowledge of medical students in the fields of human anatomy, clinical anatomy and operative surgery.
At the Olympiad on Human Anatomy OSMU team «AnatOmichki» competed with teams from Tomsk, Barnaul, Novosibirsk, and Kemerovo. The first day of the Olympiad included three stages (theoretical, practical, and interactive) and was focused on clinical anatomy, topographic anatomy, and history of anatomy. The Interactive Competition was held with the use of Pirogov Interactive Anatomy Table - students had to name the indicated structures of the body in Russian and Latin. On the second day, each of the teams introduced themselves and their universities in videos and live performances. According to the results of all stages of the competition, OSMU team was awarded a 1-st place diploma. Also, team «AnatOmichki» won in the theoretical competition, and Valeria KOZLOVA became the winner of the individual competition. The main result of the Olympiad was the students' understanding of the need for basic knowledge of anatomy in the professional activities of a doctor!
For three days of the Olympiad on Surgery, future surgeons demonstrated their skills and abilities in the following skills: “Segmental resection of the colon with the formation of an end-to-end anastomosis on a rabbit”, “Plaster cast”, “Tendon and nerve sutures”, “Osteosynthesis” , "Arterial anastomosis in the rat", "Endovideosurgery", "Coronary artery bypass surgery", "Cardiovascular surgery", "Urology", "Colorectal surgery", "Abdominal surgery", "Endovideosurgery", "Emergency care" and "Knitting Surgical Knots". Also, each team presented its university in a creative competition. The work of the student teams was evaluated by an expert jury, consisting of the teaching staff of universities and representatives of practical healthcare.
In total, within the framework of the XIII Student Olympiad on Surgery for Students of Siberian Federal District, seventeen competitions were held between teems from Omsk, Tomsk, Barnaul, Krasnoyarsk, and Novosibirsk, following which the team of our university became the winner - it will represent OSMU in Moscow at the National stage, where the winners of regional Olympiads will compete.
