On February 8, the Russian scientific community celebrates Russian Science Day. The year 2022 has been full of many brilliant studies and significant research projects carried out by the OSMU scientists.
The scientific successes of our University are achieved through the coordinated work of many people, including the staff of OSMU Departments, the Research Department, the Research Laboratory, the Department of Innovative Projects, Research & Development, the Research Laboratory of the Dentistry Faculty, the Diagnostic Laboratory, the Center of Morbid Anatomy. OSMU researchers annually become executors of scientific projects implemented under the grant support of the Ministry of Public Health of the Russian Federation, grantees of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (closed in 2021), the Russian Science Foundation, and the Grants Council of the President of the Russian Federation. In 2022, OSMU scientists received grant support from the Omsk Region. Projects supported by the funds are aimed at creating and improving diagnostic and treatment technologies, tackling demographic challenges, and protecting public health.

Plans for 2023
In 2023, research work in ten topical areas will continue under the state assignment of the Russian Ministry of Public Health, with the support of the Russian State Research Support Funds and the University's own funds. Scientific cooperation with Russian organizations and International partners will take place. The joint project with the University of Perugia (Perugia, Italy) on reducing the number of premature births, and the joint project with the Siegfried Weller Institute for Trauma Research (Tübingen, Germany) on the issues of unhealed bone fractures, will continue.
Winners of the Regional stage of the UMNIK Competition are going to participate in the START-1 Competition, while the new participants of the UMNIK-2023 will present their projects for the first time. 4 projects will be launched with the help of the Omsk Scientific Educational Center. Scientific Society for Young Scientists and Students is going to organize plenty of scientific events, including conferences, competitions, seminars, and workshops.
