Congratulations to the Winner of the Grant Competition

September 2021 was marked by the Regional Youth Forum «Create!» and the Grant Competition organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Physical Culture, and Sports of the Omsk Region.

The forum aims to form professional competencies and soft-skills in participants, create an environment for cooperation in youth communities, and support initiatives and important projects in the Omsk Region. The total grant fund is 1 million rubles, the maximum donation for one project is up to 150,000 rubles.

In November 2021, the jury panel selected the top 11 of 22 projects, including the work of Sofia SUKHANOVA, a 6th-year student of the OSMU Faculty of General Medicine. Her project «International Intellectual Health-ring «Human and Environment»», performed under the supervision of Natalia V. SEMENOVA, Prof. Assoc. of the Department of the Health and Safety, Disaster Medicine, Deputy Head of the Scientific Society of Students and Young Researchers (Innovative Youth Policy), was rated 5th place among 22 participants and received funding of 80 thousand rubles.

- Our project is both educational and scientific. It helps to share knowledge about the regional ecology among students not only in the Omsk Region but also in neighboring countries (Republic of Kazakhstan) – says Natalia V. Semenova.

As part of the project, creators will run an online test to evaluate the environmental awareness among students, and hold a creative competition motivating participants to find new solutions to existing ecological problems. The positive outcomes of previously held projects «Ecological Dictation» and «International Eco-Battles «EKOautumn»» inspired the continuation of the traditional competition. The initiation of the project dates back to July 2021 and, after all of the stages of the Grant Competition, organizers are ready to invite everyone to participate! The project is to be implemented with the support of the Omsk branch of the International Academy of Ecology, Human and Nature Safety Sciences headed by Leonid L. SHULKIN, MD, PhD.

It is planned to hold «Health-ring» annually in cooperation with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Omsk Region, attracting more Universities in Omsk, the Republic of Kazakhstan, and other countries. Creators are looking forward to cooperation with large regional industrial enterprises for environmental education among young employees.

Sofia Sukhanova admits that she was motivated by a desire to try out a new role and make a difference in society. This is a great opportunity to gain tremendous experience and contribute to the environmental culture. Congratulations to the winner of the grant competition and her supervisor! We wish them further scientific and professional successes!
