On June 25-26, OSMU delegation, including Prof. Vadim A. AKHMEDOV, MD, PhD, Head of the OSMU Department of Medical Rehabilitation, including Postgraduate Training Courses, and Assoc. Prof. Olga V. GAUS, MD, PhD, Prof. of the Internal Medicine (Intermediate Level) and Gastroenterology Department, visited Xinjiang Medical University (XMU) at the invitation of the Chinese side.
On June 25, OSMU delegates participated in the China-Central Asia Conference on Cooperation in Production, Education, Scientific Research, and Application, held in Urumqi. This Conference included delegates from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Hungary, and Australia. The Conference focused on expanding cooperation in student and faculty exchanges, organizing internships and scientific research in China, as well as jointly developing new herbal medicines based on plants native to the region.
On the next day, the OSMU delegation participated in a medical seminar as part of the Conference, held at Xinjiang Medical University. Prof. Vadim A. AKHMEDOV delivered a report entitled "Intestinal Microbiota and Eating Disorders," which generated considerable interest among the audience.
Following the visit, the delegation participated in a discussion of plans to establish a Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine in Omsk, similar to those already operating in Central Asian countries. Their Chinese colleagues highly praised the Chinese delegation's reception at OSMU last year.
