Current Challenges in Cardiology

 
On March 5, the Interregional Scientific Conference «Current Challenges in Cardiology» was held online. It was organized by Omsk State Medical University, Ministry of Public Health of the Omsk Region, Russian Society of Cardiology, and Russian Scientific Medical Society of Internal Medicine. The Conference attracted scientists from Moscow, Surgut, Kemerovo, Barnaul, Novosibirsk, and Omsk, who presented around 20 cardiology research reports.
Emphasizing the relevance of the Conference, Olga Yu. KORENOVA, MD, PhD, Professor of the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine (Postgraduate Course) Department of OSMU, in her welcoming speech referred to the data on the mortality due to cardiovascular diseases, which is 48%.   
 
Then Galina I. NECHAEVA, MD, PhD, Professor of the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine (Postgraduate Course) Department, told about the role of stress management and moderate physical activity for cardiovascular diseases prevention.
 
The Conference included five sessions: «Chronic ischemic heart disease: issues of prevention, treatment, rehabilitation», «Selected Problems of Cardio-Oncology», «Special issues of cardiology: non-coronary myocardium lesions, CTD, PE» «Chronic heart failure», and «Cardiovascular diseases and comorbidities». They were headed by the staff of the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine (Postgraduate Course) Department of OSMU: Prof. Galina I. NECHAEVA, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. Inna V. DRUK, MD, PhD, Prof. Olga Yu. KORENOVA, MD, PhD, and Prof. Alexander A. SEMENKIN, MD, PhD.
 
Prof. Alexander A. SEMENKIN presented two reports: «Two strategies for stable IHD management: friends or rivals?» and «CHF: a modern view on the problem».
 
Prof. Olga Yu. KORENOVA also presented two reports: «Cancer-Associated Thrombosis» and «Comorbid patient with AF: modern approaches to treatment based on updated clinical guidelines».
 
Prof. Assoc. Inna V. DRUK dedicated both her reports to diabetes: «Diabetic cardiomyopathy and AF in patients with diabetes» and «Possibilities and prospects of modern treatment for patients with type 2 diabetes and comorbidities».
           
Interregional Scientific Conference «Current Challenges in Cardiology» became a momentous event in the life of the cardiology community, giving scientists, students, and practicing specialists up-to-date knowledge.
