On June 3-4, the OSMU Department of Preventive Dentistry hosted the International Student Olympiad «Dentistry is Our Profession». This event was organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, Belarusian State Medical University, and the Department of Conservative Dentistry, led by L.A. KAZEKO, DMD, PhD.
Participants from five Universities, including OSMU, V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University (S.I. Georgievsky Medical Institute), Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod (Institute of Clinical Medicine), Vitebsk State Medical University, and Belarusian State Medical University, attended the event.
The Olympiad provided students the opportunity to demonstrate their theoretical knowledge through challenging test tasks and clinical case studies. They also applied their skills in practical scenarios and presented their restoration works. The competitions included categories like «Team Introduction» and «Research Presentation». This event strengthened international academic relationships and allowed participants to share experiences and knowledge. Such gatherings are important for increasing student interest in their future careers and identifying talented individuals.
The team from the OSMU Faculty of Dentistry, consisting of Alina-Dolores SCHENKNECHT, Daria SOKOLOVA, Artem KIRGINTSEV, and Ekaterina MILTO, achieved notable success by securing first place in the «Clinical Thinking» category and second place in «Team Introduction». Additionally, Ekaterina MILTO earned second place in both «Professional Skills in Restoration» and «Research Presentation».
The International Student Olympiad once again highlighted the strong friendship between universities and the principle of «Medicine without Borders!»
