On November 24-28, 2025, as part of the development of international scientific and educational cooperation, the OSMU delegation visited Karaganda Medical University (KMU), the Republic of Kazakhstan, under the Visiting Professor program. During the working visit, professors of the OSMU Faculty of Preventive Medicine delivered a series of lectures and conducted practical classes for students of KMU.
The delegation included: Assoc. Prof. Olga V. PLOTNIKOVA, MD, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Head of the OSMU Department of Occupational Health, and Prof. Denis V. TURCHANINOV, MD, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Head of the OSMU Department of Hygiene and Nutrition.
The purpose of the visit was to share best practices in the field of preventive medicine and strengthen partnerships between universities. Russian experts conducted problematic lectures on topical issues of communal hygiene, food hygiene and nutritionology for students of the KMU studying in the fields of Public Health, General and Preventive Medicine, and Pharmacy.
The lectures aroused great interest among the audience. According to the reviews of Kazakhstani colleagues, the presentations of the OSMU professors were distinguished by a high level of professionalism, pedagogical skills, and the presented material combined scientific novelty with practical orientation and was full of vivid examples.
During the working visit, the parties discussed promising areas for further cooperation. In particular, plans were outlined for the organization of joint scientific and educational events (conferences, workshops), as well as the preparation of scientific publications in collaboration.
A separate point was a visit by Omsk scientists and teachers to the National Center for Occupational Hygiene and Occupational Diseases. During the visit and meeting with the management of the Center, priority areas of cooperation between OSMU and Kazakhstani specialists were identified.
On November 28, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Olga V. PLOTNIKOVA attended the international scientific conference "Innovative technologies for managing the health of the working population: multidisciplinary approaches". The visit also included a cultural program in which the OSMU delegation got acquainted with the sights of the city of Karaganda. This trip strengthened the partnership between OSMU and KMU and marked the beginning of a new stage of fruitful cooperation in the field of medical education and science.
