On November 28, 2023, the e-Conference on the Topical Issues of Pediatric Dentistry was held. This year, more than a hundred doctors, residents, professors and students of the Dentistry Faculties of the Russian leading universities from Moscow, Izhevsk, and Omsk took part in this event. OSMU professors and practicing doctors also presented their scientific reports.
In her welcoming speech, Prof. Galina I. SKRIPKINA, DMD, PhD, Head of the Pediatric Dentistry Department, noted the contribution of such events to the professional development of dentists and the quality of dental care to young patients. The welcoming words were also delivered by Assoc. Prof. Rushania R. SHAKIROVA, DMD, PhD, Head of the Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, and Dental Disease Prevention Department of Izhevsk State Medical Academy, and Marina V. MOSEEVA, Assoc. Prof. of the forenamed department.
The main speaker of the Conference was Tatiana S. MITYAEVA, Medical Director of the Professorial Dental Clinic on the Arbat (Moscow), well-known practicing pediatric dentist, author of e-webinars for pediatric dentists. Her co-speakers were Olga V. MATSKIEVA and Andrey V. KARNITSKIY, both Assoc. Prof. of the Pediatric Dentistry Department of OSMU.
The main topic for discussion and discussion this year was general anesthesia for children’s dental care. Today, this method of treatment is increasingly used in private dental clinics. But the issues of indications and contraindications, frequency and duration of anesthesia in childhood for oral cavity sanitation remain open. All these and many other problems were actively discussed by the practicing dentists.
At the end of the conference, the participants discussed aspects of further cooperation between the scientific community and practical healthcare and outlined topics for upcoming conferences, taking into account the needs of practicing dentists.
