Enduring Academic Partnership with Khatlon State Medical University

A delegation from OSMU once again paid a working visit to Khatlon State Medical University (KSMU) in the Republic of Tajikistan, reaffirming the enduring academic partnership between the two institutions.

Prof. Irina N. PUTALOVA, MD, PhD, Head of the OSMU Department of Human Anatomy, delivered a series of lectures to an audience of 1,142 first- and second-year students from all Faculties of the host University. Her presentations attracted not only students but also Professors from the partnering Department and the Rector of KSMU himself. Of particular note was her expertly conducted master class, «A Model for Conducting a Scientific Event in Human Anatomy», specifically designed for the teaching staff. The session sparked lively debate, with discussions extending far beyond the allotted time - an indication of the participants’ deep engagement and the productive nature of the collaboration.

Assoc. Prof. Anna A. USOVA, MD, PhD, Assoc. Prof. of the OSMU Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology, held focused academic sessions for 4th-year students of the Faculty of Dentistry as well as 5th-year students of the General Medicine and Pediatrics Faculties. Her lectures explored critical topics such as cognitive and volitional disorders, consciousness syndromes, and psychogenic conditions. Her methodologically rich master class, «Peculiarities of Teaching Clinical Disciplines at the Early Stages of Medical Training (Case Study: Psychiatry)», drew significant interest and received high praise from her Tajik colleagues.

The delegation’s visit extended beyond academic activities. A formal meeting with the Rector of KSMU was held, and throughout the visit, the guests were warmly accompanied by vice-rectors, deans, department heads, and leaders of various university divisions. Their attentive presence highlighted the importance of such international exchanges in fostering institutional development and establishing enduring partnerships.

The cultural component of the visit proved equally enriching. Delegates toured local museums, gaining insights into the historical development of Tajik society, the natural wonders of the region, and traditional crafts. The breathtaking landscapes of this hospitable country left a lasting impression on all participants.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to our colleagues at Khatlon State Medical University for their warm welcome and impeccable organization.
