Environmental Aspects of Human Health

On July 3, 2026, the Russian scientific conference for students, young scientists, and teachers, "Environmental Aspects of Human Health", was held at the OSMU Department of Biology. The Conference brought together students from OSMU, Smolensk State Medical University, Yaroslavl State Medical University, and Kursk State Medical University, Chuvashia State University, Himalaya Medical College and Hospital (India), and Medical College of the Diabetes Association (Bangladesh).

The goal of the Conference was to explore how physical, chemical, biological, social and psychosocial factors influence human health and which modern technologies and discoveries can improve the quality of life and impact population health. The Conference covered several topics: Endemic Diseases, Parasitic Diseases, Ecotoxicants and Pollutants, Biotechnological Processes and Green Technologies, and Preservation of Public Health.

The Conference featured presentations on the negative impact of extreme climatic, ecological, anthropogenic, and medical-social factors on the health of indigenous and visiting populations in various regions of Russia and India. The Conference also addressed the most pressing issues in the development of medical science and healthcare, as well as the implementation of fundamental scientific advances in practical medicine.

Participants noted that human adaptation to Siberian conditions is a priority in public health and requires further development of fundamental and applied science in this area. Young scientists and teachers from Nizhnevartovsk State University, Omsk State Agrarian University, and Omsk State Medical University expressed their opinions on the state and preservation of public health.

A significant portion of the global disease burden is associated with unfavorable environmental conditions. Therefore, according to Conference participants, it is entirely possible to prevent many problems by improving the environment: cleaning the air and water, properly managing waste, reducing emissions, and developing sustainable urban development.
