On February 15 of each year, we celebrate the European Perioperative Nursing Day. It was founded in 2009 by the European Operating Room Nurses Association to celebrate the indispensable labor of perioperative nurses.
According to the official data surgery as a specialty was approved in 1875; two decades later in 1891 the profession of perioperative nurse appeared when surgeons sharply needed the help of assistants. The nurses had been trained to certain professional skills and ins and outs of any surgical interventions into a human body.
