Х Congress of Siberian Urologists with International Participation

 
On May 18, 2022, the Х Congress of Siberian Urologists with international participation took place in Omsk State Medical University. It was organized by OSMU, Ministry of Public Health of the Omsk Region, Omsk branch of the Russian Society of Urology, and Uroweb.ru - strategic media partner.
Congress of Siberian Urologists is a scheduled event highly valued by urologists from Russia and CIS. Since then, 10 Conferences and 9 Congresses of Siberian Urologists were held, and this year OSMU had the privilege to organize 20th anniversary event. Previously, this event took place in Omsk in 2009 and 2015.
The main goals of the Siberian Conferences and Congresses were to attract young urologists to specialty and science, and to give both recognized leaders in urology and young practicing doctors to present their reports.
This year, for the first time in history, the Congress was held online in different virtual meeting rooms and sessions, covering the following topics: «Andrology», «Inflammatory diseases of the upper urinary tract», «Inflammatory diseases and functional disorders of the lower urinary tract», «Laparoscopic reconstructive urology», «Diseases of the prostate, bladder, external genitalia». It also included two memorial sessions: «Pediatric urology-andrology», dedicated to the memory of Prof. Alexander V. GUDKOV (Tomsk), and «Kidney Stone Disease», dedicated to the memory of Prof. Fedor P. KAPSARGIN (Krasnoyarsk).
The conference attracted participants from Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Germany, who presented 68 reports to more than 400 listeners. 
The central topics of the X (XX) Congress of Siberian Urologists were the fundamental scientific aspects of urological practice, the main ways of modern urology development, new technologies in endourology, and innovations in plastic and reconstructive urology. The other topics included drug treatment in urology, diagnosis and treatment of kidney stone disease, prostate hyperplasia, and male infertility.
Kurt NABER, Professor of the Urology Department of Technical University of Munich (Germany), presented the report «Prospective lines in conservative management of urinary tract infection».
Natalia I. SIMCHENKO, MD, PhD, Head of the Urology Department of Gomel State Medical University (Belarus), spoke about the urodynamic disorders of the lower urinary tract in patients with diabetes. 
Vladimir S. SAENKO, MD, PhD, Professor of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, told about the practical aspects of the kidney stone disease metaphylaxis.  
Evgeny A. BEZRUKOV, MD, PhD, Professor of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, presented the report «Laparoscopic fistuloplasty for vesicovaginal fistulas».
OSMU was presented by two professors. Prof. Anton Yu. TSUKANOV, MD, PhD, Head of the Surgical Diseases and Urology (Postgraduate Course) of OSMU, prepared three reports in different sessions: «Features of the clinical course of destructive pyelonephritis during COVID-19 pandemic», «Management of outpatient cystitis», «Possibilities of conservative treatment in the progression of LUTS due to BPH».  
Prof. Andrey V. PISKLAKOV, MD, PhD, Head of the Pediatric Surgery and Reproductive Health for Children and Adolescents Department of OSMU, presented two reports: «Scrotoscopy - a new method for diagnosing and treating scrotal pathology in children» (co-authored with Artem V. GRIGORENKO) and «Chronic pelvic pain syndrome in adolescents» (co-authored with Natalia I. PAVLENKO, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Pediatric Surgery and Reproductive Health for Children and Adolescents Department of OSMU).
Tight Conference schedule, its specifics, and the involvement of participants showed the relevance of the covered topics. All this allows us to say that urology as a science is developing, gradually implementing the latest developments, research and technologies into practice.
