On October 16, “Healthy Vision Day‑2026” was held in Omsk. Leading Russian ophthalmologists took part in the Conference, including Prof. Alexander V. MYAGKOV, MD, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Director of the Moscow National Myopia Institute; Prof. Oleg I. LEBEDEV, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Dean of the OSMU Faculty of General Medicine, Member of the Expert Council on Glaucoma of the Russian Glaucoma Society; Assoc. Prof. Alexander V. SUROV, PhD (in Medicine), Head of the OSMU Ophthalmology Department.
The main topic of the Conference was a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of myopia and glaucoma. Prof. Alexander V. MYAGKOV conducted a practical session where complex cases were examined in order to teach colleagues how to accurately differentiate diagnoses. Prof. Oleg I. LEBEDEV focused on the proven link between myopia and glaucoma — he refuted the common belief that glaucoma is exclusively a disease of the elderly. He said myopia itself is a risk factor for the development of open‑angle glaucoma, and this applies to every third or fourth Russian. Assoc. Prof. Alexander V. SUROV presented a report entitled “Dry Eye Syndrome and Infectious‑Inflammatory Risks: Modern Therapy and Preparation of the Ocular Surface for Contact Correction.”
All the specialists who attended the Conference dedicated to World Sight Day said that it became a platform for a lively dialogue: in the form of the presented reports, the discussions held, and the well‑organized exhibition of modern diagnostic equipment.
