On March 18, the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology hosted the II Interuniversity Microbiology Olympiad "Microbiology in Dates" with international participation. This Olympiad brought together more than 100 students from different countries and cities. As a result of the qualifying round, 15 teams took part in the Olympiad, including 8 teams from OSMU, 2 teams from Omsk State Agrarian University, and 1 team from Bukhara State Medical Institute (Uzbekistan), 2 teams from Astana Medical University (Kazakhstan), 2 teams from Semey Medical University (Kazakhstan).
The Olympiad began with welcoming remarks by Assoc. Prof. Lyudmila V. KUMPAN, MD, PhD (in Medicine), Head of the OSMU Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology, and Prof. Asst. Alena S. DOLGIKH, MD, Head of the Student Scientific Society of the Department, who wished the students success and new discoveries in the scientific world.
This Olympiad has become a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of microscopic life, to trace the path of science development from the first observations to modern discoveries and technologies.
The students showed creativity, analytical mind and team spirit.
Congratulations to the winners:
The first place was shared by OSMU team “Gram+” and Semey Medical University team “Mind Colony”.
The second place was taken by the team "Periodontal Ligament" of OSMU and the team "Micro Terminators" of Omsk State Agrarian University.
The third place of honor was awarded to the teams "Bacteria wears Prada" of OSMU and "Microbes" of Astana Medical University.
