On April 28, 2023, the III Interregional Academic e-Conference for internal medicine specialists and cardiologists of Siberia, Transbaikal, and the Far East was held. It was dedicated to the discussion of topical issues in various fields of medicine - cardiology, internal medicine, pulmonology, and gastroenterology.
The geography of participants included Moscow, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Chita, Blagoveshchensk, Irkutsk, Tomsk, Novosibirsk, and Omsk.
The welcome speeches were delivered by Prof. Mekhman N. MAMEDOV, MD, PhD, President of the Cardioprogress Foundation, Foreign Member of the Tajikistan Academy of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Secondary Prevention of Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases of the National Medical Research Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine, an editor-in-chief of the «International Heart and Vascular Disease Journal», Head of the RSC working group «Diabetes and cardiovascular diseases», and Prof. Maria A. LIVZAN, MD, PhD, OSMU Rector, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology Department, Chief External Specialist in Internal Diseases of the Siberian Federal District.
The Conference started with a report «Diabetes and CVD: new challenges and updated guidelines» by Prof. Mekhman N. MAMEDOV, where the risk factors for cardiovascular diseases in patients with diabetes were listed and methods for risk management were specified.
OSMU Professors and specialists also presented their reports:
Prof. Assoc. Inna V. DRUK, MD, PhD, Head of the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Department, unnveiled the importance of CVD and diabetes prevention.
Olga Yu. KORENNOVA, MD, PhD, Prof. of the Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology Department, discussed the specifics of the treatment of statin-induced diabetes.
Elena V. NADEY, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Department, delivered a report called «The many faces of asthma».
Prof. Maria A. LIVZAN told about the metabolic health, MAFLD and its main risk factor - liver fibrosis. The treatment of this condition must include lifestyle modification for reducing the metabolic risks.
Larissa I. TELYATNIKOVA, Head of the Endoscopy Department of Ultramed Clinical Center, presented the report «Endoscopic polypectomy: types, possibilities, indications».
Also, during the e-Conference, reports of specialists from other regions were presented. Elena A. KHLUDEEVA, MD, PhD, Head of the Cardiology Center of Primorye Regional Hospital №1, Сhief Сardiologist of the Department of Health of the Primorsky Krai, Member of the Presidium of the Board of the Russian Society of Cardiology, demonstrated the clinical case of endovascular treatment in case of concomitant myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke, as well as the complexity of therapeutic management.
Anastasia A. STARICHKOVA, doctor of the Novosibirsk Regional Hospital for War Veterans №2, and Prof. Assoc. Lyudmila D. HADIROVA, MD, PhD (Novosibirsk State Medical University), delivered the report called «Cardiological features of the course of the post-COVID period in patients with cardiovascular diseases».
The reports presented in other fields were also crucial and engaging: «Modern approaches in the treatment of bronchiectasis» and «GERD through the pulmonologist’s eyes», both were made by Prof. Assoc. Irina V. ZAYKOVA-HELIMSKAYA, MD, PhD, Prof. of the Internal Medicine Department of Far Eastern State Medical University.
The e-Conference ended with an emotional professional discussion upon presented reports and found only positive responds among the participants who expressed the common desire to hold such scientific events on a regular basis.
