III Scientific Conference of General Practitioners and Cardiologists of Siberia and the Far East

On April 26, 2024, the III Scientific Conference of General Practitioners and Cardiologists of Siberia and the Far East took place. It was organized by OSMU, Ministry of Health of the Omsk Region, and Cardiology Promotion Fund «Cardioprogress».
The welcoming words were delivered by Assoc. Prof. Inna V. DRUK, MD, PhD, Head of the OSMU Department of Internal and Family Medicine, including Postgraduate Training Courses, and Prof. Mehman N. MAMEDOV, MD, PhD, thought leader of the Conference, President of the «Cardioprogress» Fund, Head of the Department of Secondary Prevention of NCDs of the National Medical Research Center for General Medicine and Preventive Medicine, Member of the Presidium of the Russian Society of Cardiologists, foreign member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan (Moscow).
 
This year, 24 reports by scientists from 9 Russian cities were presented at the Conference.  The online format of the event made it possible to gather a large number of listeners and speakers - representatives of scientific schools from different cities of Russia: Moscow, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Chita, Tyumen, Tver, Kemerovo, Maykop, and Omsk
 
The Conference content strategy was focused on four areas, each of which was reflected in the topics of the breakout sessions: «Current issues of respiratory pathology in clinical practice», «Kaleidoscope of internal pathology», «Complex cardiovascular problems» and «Selected issues of general medicine and cardiology».
 
OSMU was represented by the staff of the Department of Internal and Family Medicine, including Postgraduate Training Courses, Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases, and Department of Internal Medicine (Advanced Level) and Endocrinology. Their presentations varied in topic: severe bronchial asthma, infectious diseases of the upper respiratory tract, vitamin D deficiency, iron deficiency in GP’s practice, features of portal vein hemodynamics in patients with fatty liver disease, left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension without ASCVD, and others.
 
The events like the III Scientific Conference of General Practitioners and Cardiologists of Siberia and the Far East become a landmark scientific phenomenon in the life of the internal medicine and cardiology community, help introduce the scientific achievements of modern internal medicine and cardiology into clinical practice, allow to generalize the gained experience, improve knowledge, and develop connections with medical communities of Russian regions.
