International Conference on Disaster Medicine and Life Safety Held at OSMU

In 2026, OSMU Department of Extreme and Evidence Based Medicine celebrates its 100th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the Department is organizing a series of academic events, including the Interuniversity Scientific Conference with International Participation «Current Issues in Disaster Medicine and Life Safety», held on May 4, 2026, at the Simulation and Accreditation Center of OSMU.

The Conference brought together more than 100 participants, including OSMU students, cadets of the General A.V. Khrulev Military Logistics Academy (Burkina Faso), representatives of Voronezh State Medical University named after N.N. Burdenko, Omsk State Pedagogical University, South Ural State University (National Research University), and school students from Gymnasium №19 and Gymnasium №88 in Omsk.

The Conference was held in a hybrid format, allowing participants from other cities to present their research online. The scientific program included sections on Life Safety and Disaster Medicine, featuring both oral and poster presentations.

A special category for young researchers highlighted projects by school students. The winner was Anastasia STROKINA (Gymnasium №19) for her study on stress levels among students and stress management methods, supervised by Natalia V. SEMENOVA.

In the «Disaster Medicine» section, the best oral presentation award went to Yana G. PENYUSHOVA and Irina D. KURALENKO, students of Omsk State Pedagogical University, for their project «Guidelines for Interaction Between Emergency Service Personnel and Individuals with Mental and Cognitive Disorders in Emergency Situations» under the supervision of Olga V. YAKUBENKO.

In the «Life Safety» section, the winners were Sofya K. SAKENOVA and Ekaterina M. KULICHENKO, OSMU students, for their research «Psychological Pressure in Medicine and Its Impact on Patient Consciousness», supervised by Konstantin V. FROLOV.

Research presented by international participants was featured in a separate international section. The winner was Frank Rashid ZINA, cadet of the General A.V. Khrulev Military Logistics Academy (Burkina Faso), whose study focused on communication practices among military personnel operating under strict security regulations. The research was supervised by Olga V. SELEZNEVA.

The award for the best poster presentation went to Anatoly A. TKACHENKO, OSMU student, for his work on tactical medicine and a comparative analysis of standard first-aid equipment used by military personnel in different countries. The project was supervised by Natalia V. SEMENOVA.

All winners received valuable prizes provided by online marketplaces, the «Chitai-Gorod» bookstore chain, and the «Leonardo» hobby and arts store. The organizers congratulated the winners, prize recipients, and their supervisors, wishing them continued academic success, new discoveries, and future achievements.
