On April 27-29, OSMU students took part in the 29th National Scientific Student Conference «Burning Issues of Pediatric Surgery, Anesthesiology and Intensive Care» dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Battle of Stalingrad and the 50th anniversary of the Pediatric Surgery Department of Volgograd State Medical University.
Young scientists from 40 Medical Universities from Russia and abroad presented a total of 106 reports and 126 posters.
OSMU was represented by 5 students:
Alina GARMANOVA (3rd-year student of the Department of Pediatrics) with her research «Clinical case of osteomyelitis of the first cervical vertebra», presented in the «Clinical Case» poster competition
Evelina SHESLER (6th-year student of the Department of Pediatrics) presented a report entitled «Gynecological causes of acute abdominal pain in girls» in the «Issues of Pediatric Surgery» section
Alina KOSTUCHENKO (6th-year student of the Department of Pediatrics) with her report entitled «Atypical testicular torsion» in the «Andrology» section
Anastasia IVANOVA (6th-year student of the Department of Pediatrics) presented her report «Epidural anesthesia in children with urological pathology» in the «Issues of Pediatric Surgery» section
Elizaveta DUBROVINA (6th-year student of the Department of Pediatrics) with her report entitled «Preliminary urine diversion for obstructive uropathy in children» in the «Urology and Andrology» section
OSMU team was headed by Prof. Andrey V. PISKLAKOV, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery and Reproductive Health for Children and Adolescents.
Based on the results of the competition, Alina KOSTUCHENKO and Evelina SHESLER deserved the 1st Place Diplomas, Anastasia IVANOVA and Elizaveta DUBROVINA were awarded the 3rd Place Diplomas. The research of Alina KOSTUCHENKO has also been recognized as the best of all reports! OSMU team showed the best results in the overall competition, proving the high level of the Omsk School of pediatric surgery!

The next Pediatric Surgery Symposium and the 30th National Scientific Student Conference «Burning Issues of Pediatric Surgery, Anesthesiology and Intensive Care» will take place in Samara in April 2024.
