Launch of National Projects from a Hygienic Perspective
 
The National Scientific Conference «Launch of National Projects from a Hygienic Perspective: Organizational and Methodological Aspects» devoted to the Centenary of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service took place on April 26. The event was organized by OSMU, Omsk Office of Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare, Omsk Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, and Regional Society of Sanitary Doctors and Hygienists.
 
The online format of the event attracted a large number of participants from different Russian cities, including Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Kemerovo, Ufa, and Omsk.
 
Prof. Denis V. TURCHANINOV, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Hygiene and Nutrition, together with Elena A. VILMS, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Department of Epidemiology, and Maria S. TURCHANINOVA, MD, PhD, Prof. Asst. of the Department of Hygiene and Nutrition, presented the report «Healthy Diet: Priorities of Prevention». Speakers introduced the «Healthy Nutrition» Project and told about the critical issues of its implementation. Listeners learned about the design, goals and objectives of the project, functions of executors, and current data on the nutritional status of different population groups.
 
The report «Burden of Socially Significant Diseases in the Siberian Federal District» was presented by Prof. Assoc. Oksana A. PASECHNIK, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management, in co-authorship with Alexey I. BLOKH, M.D., PhD, Head of Siberian Center for AIDS Prevention and Control, and Lidiya I. LEVAKHINA, Deputy Head of Siberian Center for AIDS Prevention and Control. Speakers focused on the assessment of the overall burden of socially significant diseases in the Siberian Federal District. The audience heard about the social and economic aspects of HIV infection in the Region and learned about priority areas for disease prevention. 
 
Prof. Vladimir L. STASENKO, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Epidemiology, and Natalia G. SHIRLINA, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Department of Epidemiology spoke about the improvement strategies for cancer prevention.
 
Elena L. OVCHINNIKOVA, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Department of Occupational Health, told about the implementation of the «Clean Air» Federal Project in the city of Omsk.
 
Elena A. VILMS, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Department of Epidemiology, presented her report «Nutritional Risk Factors in the Omsk Region Population: Data from Epidemiological Studies». Participants heard about the prevalence of leading nutritional risk factors in the Western Siberian population and the most common nutritional imbalances, eating disorders, and associations of these factors with morbidity in modern conditions.
 
The reports presented by the researchers touched on a wide range of issues. The Conference became a landmark event for both the medical community and the sanitary and epidemiological service in Russia.
