«Medical Education in the 21st Century: Contemporary Initiatives of Russia and Kyrgyzstan»

 
On February 11, 2025, Kursk State Medical University hosted the International Scientific Conference «Medical Education in the 21st Century: Contemporary Initiatives of Russia and Kyrgyzstan», dedicated to the University’s 90th anniversary.
 
The event took place under the auspices of the Russian Federation’s Decade of Science and Technology, aiming to disseminate state-of-the-art scientific and pedagogical advancements in contemporary medical education, while also guiding the evolution of mentorship programs within the cluster-based policy framework of medical universities.
 
It is noteworthy that on October 15, 2024, in Bishkek, a landmark accord was reached to create the Russian-Kyrgyz Consortium of Medical Universities. Endorsed by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Prof. Vadim A. LAZARENKO, MD, PhD, Rector of Kursk State Medical University, was appointed Chairman of the Consortium Board on behalf of Russia. At present, the agreement brings together seven leading Russian medical universities, including OSMU, alongside 18 universities in Kyrgyzstan.
 
OSMU was represented at this landmark event by members of the Department of Philosophy, Humanities and Social Sciences: Assoc. Prof. Stepan G. CHUKHIN, PhD in Pedagogy, who presented the report «Designing University Spaces for Medical Deontology»; Assoc. Prof. Tatyana A. BELOVA, PhD in History, and Alyona L. BRITSKAYA, Senior Lecturer, who delivered a joint presentation «The Role of Teaching Humanities in Medical Universities as a Factor in Developing Patriotism among Students».
 
Additionally, a poster presentation «The Role of the OSMU College History Museum in Developing Students’ General Cultural Competencies» was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Olga S. LOMOVA, PhD in Technology, Head of the Interdisciplinary Methodological Commission «Medical Optics».
 
Svetlana A. PISKLAKOVA, Head of the International Affairs Department, presented insights into OSMU’s collaborative endeavors with universities in Kyrgyzstan, highlighting the experiences gained through implementing an international academic mobility program in partnership with Osh State University.
 
This event paves the way for new avenues of collaboration and the formation of mutually beneficial partnerships in the realm of medicine and healthcare between the two nations.
