On March 5, 2026, the Biology Department of OSMU hosted the National Scientific Conference with International Participation "Modern aspects of genetics", which attracted participants from OSMU, Tyumen Medical University, Tobolsk Medical College named after V.Soldatov, and Nizhnevartovsk State University.
The event was aimed at popularizing scientific research in biology, developing medical thinking, and engaging students in solving theoretical and practical problems in genetics.
Presented research required to be valid, reliable, performed independently, and have theoretical and practical significance. The conference was held in a hybrid format, with oral and poster presentations covering four areas: "Biosafety and Environmental Factors", "Genetics of Monogenic Diseases", "Epigenetics of Multifactorial Diseases", and "Molecular Cytogenetics." In addition to in-person presentations, pre-recorded video reports by students from other medical universities were also presented.
The reports were focused on human hereditary diseases of various etiologies. All of them were engaging, diverse, and relevant, earning the audience's attention and interest. The speakers
also presented specific clinical cases of diseases diagnosed in Indian clinics.
Following the conference, the Chairperson of the Jury Panel, Assoc. Prof. Larisa V. CHERNAYA, PhD (in Biology), Head of the Biology Department, congratulated all participants on the successful start of their research and their first experience of public speaking, wishing them further success in their research endeavors.
