Under the conditions of a new coronavirus many health specialists work seven days a week. They save lives of patients suffering not only from COVID-19 but from many other diseases.
Sergey V. CHERNENKO, Senior Lecturer at OSMU Department of General Surgery, tells about his work in the current situation, “I work as a thoracic surgeon in A.N. Kabanov Omsk Clinical Hospital №1. Earlier this month all our patients with COVID-19 were placed into a special area called “Red Zone” to prevent the further spread of the infection. Then these patients will be taken to specialized COVID-19 hospitals.
The conditions of our work have dramatically changed. The hospital’s staff have a lot of work to do. They had to adapt to the present situation. Moreover, our patients are also rather receptive to it. All medical staff is provided with individual protective clothes. They have taken a training course at OSMU Skills Center where they were taught how to use these protective means properly.
Today’s situation is really difficult. From the very beginning of the pandemic we are facing with the globally dangerous challenge. But our primary task is to continue our work day and night and help those who are in urgent need.”
