Omsk Obstetricians and Gynecologists Discussed Topical Issues of the Reproductive Health

On September 23, the Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference «Contraversions in Obstetrics and Gynecology» was held in a mixed format (on-site and off-site).

The educational platform joined together more than 200 obstetricians and gynecologists, fertility specialists, surgeons, endocrinologists, general practitioners, and sonographers. For a few hours, participants got involved in the detailed study of the burning issues of reproductive health. According to the organizers of this event, reproductive health nowadays is an integral part of not only medical but also social and even political activity. Prof. Assoc. Irina V. SAVELIEVA, MD, PhD, Head of the Department Obstetrics and Gynecology №1 (OSMU), Chief External Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Omsk Region, mentioned that special attention was paid to the controversial and sometimes difficult issues in obstetric and gynecological practice.

«Doctors, including obstetricians and gynecologists, will always have topical issues for discussion. Since we live in a time when laws and regulations in healthcare are changing, and there are controversial points even in the guidelines, the discussion of sometimes directly opposite schemes of diagnosis and treatment in obstetrics and gynecology is crucial now».

More than ten reports and clinical cases were presented at the Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference. They touched upon the questions of management of patients with complicated pregnancy in the early and late terms based on the evidence-based medicine, structural changes in the mammary and thyroid glands, urinary tract infections in pregnant women, kidneys ultrasound in pregnant women and the fetus, etc.
«This conference is important in terms of treating each patient individually based on his clinical case» - said Irina V. SAVELIEVA.
The conference ended with the question and answer session, and then listeners underwent the test on acquired knowledge.
