On December 29, the award ceremony for the 2025 Omsk Regional Government Youth Prize was held. This event is aimed to encourage young scientists, who have made a significant contribution to the advancement of the natural, technical, and humanities sciences, as well as the development of new equipment and advanced technologies that will ensure innovative economic and social development in 2025.
This year one of the prize winners was Maria N. PARYGINA, MD, PhD (in Medicine), Associate Professor of the Morbid Anatomy Department, the Supervisor, Prof. Alexey V. KONONOV, MD, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Head of the Morbid Anatomy Department and Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation.
The award ceremony was held by Vitaly P. KHOTSENKO, Governor of the Omsk Region and Chairperson of the Omsk Region Government. The study focuses on improving diagnostic methods for early and severe precancerous changes in the gastric mucosa (atrophy, intestinal metaplasia, epithelial dyspasia) to assess the risk of developing gastric cancer.
The implementation of the study results in healthcare will help to prevent the development of reversible carcinogenesis, increase early detection, and reduce mortality incidence associated with stomach cancer.
