On May 21, 2021, OSMU College held a solemn event dedicated to its 95th Anniversary.
OSMU College has a long and rich history. On September 21, 1925, the School of Senior Surgeon's Assistants was founded at the Military Medical Academy in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg). Due to the the necessity of training of medical staff during the Great Patriotic War, in such difficult times for Leningrad, the whole School was evacuated to Siberia – the City of Omsk. In total, for the period from 1942 to 1945, 4099 military feldshers, including 573 young women and 321 dentists, graduated from the School. After the end of the War, the School remained in Siberia, and in 1991, it was renamed into Omsk Medical College.
In December 2011, the College was reorganized by joining OSMU as a structural subdivision. Becoming a part of one of the leading higher educational institutions has raised the quality of training medical specialists and has made it possible to improve the learning, research, and educational activities in the College.
A solemn ceremony was attended by Maria A. LIVZAN, Rector of OSMU, Marina M. KARDAEVA, Director of OSMU College, and Viktor N. ARTEMIEV, former Director of OSMU College. OSMU College was awarded with Letters of Gratitude from Alexander L. BURKOV, Governor of the Omsk Region, for the contribution to the training of medical professionals. OSMU College staff have been granted Diplomas from the Legislative Assembly, the Ministry of Education of the Omsk Region, the Ministry of Public Health of the Omsk Region, and the Mayor of Omsk.
The event was attended by veterans who had worked at OSMU College for many years. The event included a holiday concert, where dancers, soloists of the Omsk Concert Hall, and OSMU College students performed for the special guests. The concert left everyone in a joyful mood and filled with fond memories!
