OSMU Delegation Paid a Working Visit to the Republic of Tajikistan

Within the framework of agreement on healthcare, academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation between Omsk State Medical University and Khatlon State Medical University (KSMU), the delegation of representatives of our university paid a working visit to the Republic of Tajikistan - our teachers gave lectures to 6th-year students of the Faculty of Medicine KSMU.
 
Prof. ELENA B. PAVLINOVA, MD, PhD, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Head of the Department of Pediatrics (Advanced Level), including Postgraduate Training Courses, gave lectures on the discipline «Childhood diseases» focusing attention on the following topics: perinatal pathology of the central nervous system, differential diagnosis and treatment of neonatal jaundice, anemia of newborns, and malabsorption syndrome.
 
Prof. Vadim A. AKHMEDOV, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation, including Postgraduate Training Courses, shared knowledge on internal diseases, elaborating on chronic gastritis, peptic ulcers, cholecystitis, and pancreatitis.
 
Assoc. Prof. Irina V. SAVELIEVA, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology №1, presented the lectures on the discipline «Obstetrics and Gynecology», highlighting several topics: «Causes of onset of labor, stages of labor, obstructive labor», «Obstetric bleeding. Excessive uterine bleeding at delivery and postpartum hemorrhage. Emergency obstetric care» and «Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Underlying and precancerous diseases of the uterus and cervix».
 
Prof. Vadim A. AKHMEDOV noted the warm welcome from the administration of KSMU, interest and good level of preparation of KSMU students, and their possibility to study residency programs in Russian universities, including OSMU.
 
The visit's program was not limited to the work agenda. Colleagues form Tajikistan actively shared their achievements, organized excursions to the university skills center and the regional hospital - the clinical base of the university departments. The cultural part of the visit was also interesting and educational, and included visiting of Dushanbe museums.
