The Scientific Conference dedicated to the centenary of the OSMU Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery and OSMU сentenary was held in the Hotel Complex "Tourist" on June 4, 2021.
On behalf of Maria A. LIVZAN, Rector of OSMU, and on his own behalf, Prof. Andrey V. PISKLAKOV, MD, PhD, Vice-Rector for Research, Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery and Reproductive Health for Children and Adolescents, congratulated the staff of the Department on the significant date. In his speech, Prof. Pisklakov reminded participants that the history of the University is closely connected with the Department of Neurology. The Department established the first Students’ Scientific Society in OSMU and became a pioneer in student science in our University. The Professor wished the staff strong Siberian health, success in future endeavours, and endless prosperity.
For many years of impeccable work and high professional achievements, the staff of the Department, including Valeriy I. LARKIN, Alexey G. KALINICHEV, Maxim B. KIDALOV, Yuriy V. LALOV, Igor I. LARKIN, Igor N. STEPANOV, Elena F. LITVINOVICH, Olga V. AKULINA, were awarded with Medals, Diplomas, and Letters of Gratitude.
The scientific session was opened by Valeriy I. LARKIN, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery. He dedicated his report to the history of the Department and the people who represent the authoritative Omsk scientific school of neurology. In its 100-year history, the Department has trained over 50,000 future neurologists. The speaker reminded participants about the key values of the Department, including unconditional mutual understanding and full support, and indissoluble alliance of science and practice.
The Conference continued in e-format. Vasiliy V. KASHTALAP, MD, PhD, Head of the Scientific Institute of Complex Issues of Cardiovascular Diseases (Kemerovo) has presented his report on stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation, and Maxim V. CHYURKANOV, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Sechenov Depertment of Neurology and Neurosurgery (Moscow), has covered the issue of backache.
Yuriy V. LALOV, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the OSMU Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, has presented his report on pharmacotherapy in pain syndrome, and Anton A. BORT, Principal External Specialist in Neurology in Omsk Region, Ministry of Public Health of the Russian Federation, Head of the Neurological Department for patients with acute cerebral circulation disorders, has presented his report on stroke prevention in patients with CHD.
