On September 12, 2024, the Sino-Russian Scientific e-Conference of the Association of Sino-Russian Medical Universities (ASRMU) took place in Yekaterinburg. The event was dedicated to medical innovations and technological partnership between the two countries and attracted rectors and employees of more than 40 leading Russian and Chinese medical universities, academies of sciences, and pharmaceutical companies.
The welcoming speeches were delivered by Mikhail MURASHKO, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Wang TUN, Consul General of China in Yekaterinburg, Alexander KHARLOV, Representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Yekaterinburg, and co-chairmen of ASRMU from the Russian and Chinese sides, Petr GLYBOCHKO, Academician, Rector of Sechenov University, and Yang BAOFENG, Academician. They noted the achievements of ASRMU work over 10 years, during which it became a platform for fruitful interaction between leading universities in Russia and China, the implementation of ambitious projects, and the development of the advanced educational technologies.
At the plenary session confined to the opening of the conference Petr GLYBOCHKO made a report on the development of ASRMU as a platform for technological opportunities. The plenary session was followed by the scientific part of the Conference, which included dozens of reports on molecular and cellular technologies, personalized medicine, AI, and big data in medicine, as well as innovative and biotechnological drugs.
On the Russian side, the rectors of the Ural State Medical University and the Privolzhsky Research Medical University presented reports on new technological projects of ASRMU participants. OSMU was represented by Sergey I. MOZGOVOY, MD, PhD, Prof. of the Morbid Anatomy Department, with a report «Microsatellite instability of the gastric mucosa as a predictor for tumor growth».
Representatives of the Voronezh State Medical University named after N. N. Burdenko, Pacific State Medical University, Krasnoyarsk State Medical University, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine, Jinan University, Macau University of Science and Technology, Nanjing Medical University, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, and Harbin Medical University also took part in the Conference.
ASRMU was established 10 years ago on the initiative of Sechenov University and Harbin Medical University. Today, ASRMU is a successful experience of implementing strategic cooperation between Russia and China in the field of medical education and research. During its existence, the number of its participants has grown fivefold, from 20 universities in 2014 to more than 100 now. The main achievements of ASRMU are the implementation of more than 200 major joint research and scientific projects annually, more than 300 scientific conferences and seminars, development and implementation of joint educational programs, including dual degree programs in master's and postgraduate programs. Representatives of more than 70 leading medical universities of Russia and China took part in the tenth anniversary meeting of ASRMU, which was held in Guangzhou in July, 2024.
