OSMU specialists took part in a seminar exploring hypoxic therapy as a cutting-edge, drug-free method for preventing, treating, and rehabilitating a range of modern lifestyle-related diseases.
The seminar was designed to engage a wide spectrum of medical professionals, including rehabilitation physicians, physiotherapists, pulmonologists, endocrinologists, dietitians, geriatricians and nutritionists. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Irina A. VASILENKO, MD, PhD, Head of the Laboratory of Biomedical Research Methods at the M.F. Vladimirsky Moscow Regional Research Clinical Institute.
Prof. VASILENKO delivered an insightful overview of the evolution of hypoxic therapy, tracing its application both internationally and within Russia. She highlighted its physiological benefits in managing cardiovascular and endocrine disorders, metabolic syndrome, and its growing use in wellness programs and sports medicine. Her lecture underscored the scientific foundations of the therapy, recent technological advancements, and its expanding role in modern clinical practice.
- The true significance of this seminar lies in acquainting doctors with interval hypoxic therapy - a method that is swiftly gaining momentum in contemporary medical practice. Though established decades ago, this technique is now finding renewed relevance across an expanding range of medical disciplines. Ongoing experimental studies are investigating its combination with oxygen therapy, unlocking new therapeutic possibilities. By simulating the effects of mountain air, this approach provides a practical alternative for today’s busy patients who often lack the time for traditional sanatorium-based treatments, - remarked Prof. Vadim A. AKHMEDOV, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation, including Postgraduate Training Courses.
