The II Forum of Rectors of Russian and DPRK Universities was held at Kim Il Sung University in Pyongyang, DPRK. The event brought together heads of 35 universities of the DPRK and 75 representatives of the Russian side, including delegates from 60 universities and 8 research organizations. The Russian delegation was headed by Konstantin MOGILEVSKY, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
One of the key events of the Forum was the signing of an intergovernmental agreement on the mutual recognition of education, qualifications, and academic degrees between the Russian Federation and the DPRK. The main topics of the negotiations and round-table discussions included the training of highly qualified personnel, advanced study of the Russian and Korean languages, and the development of joint educational programs. In addition, several strategic
interuniversity agreements were concluded on the sidelines of the Forum. The next, III Forum of Rectors of Russian and DPRK Universities is planned to be held in Russia next year.
OSMU was represented at the Forum by Prof. Elena B. PAVLINOVA, MD, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. She delivered a report entitled «Effective Models of International Cooperation at Omsk State Medical University: Challenges and Strategic Priorities» during the session «Russian-Korean Cooperation in Personnel Training and Scientific Research in Natural Sciences, Engineering, and Technology».
As part of the working visit, the participants became acquainted with the higher education system of the DPRK and the country’s leading universities, including Kim Il Sung University, Pyongyang University of Science and Technology, and the Central School for Training Personnel of the Territorial Production Complex.
