This week OSMU hosted a scientific conference with international participation "Prevention of dental diseases: the evolution of theories and current trends". The event has become an important educational platform contributing to the formation of clinical thinking, the development of communicative and research competencies of Dentistry students. The Conference featured presentations reflecting modern concepts of dental health as an integral component of a person's somatic status. The substantive part of the presentations covered a wide range of topics, from the etiology and pathogenesis of caries and periodontal diseases to the role of individual oral hygiene in maintaining dental health.
The modern concepts of the mechanisms of plaque and biofilm formation, the importance of demineralizing therapy, as well as the principles of selecting objects and means of oral hygiene were considered in detail.
The format of the discussion allowed the participants to demonstrate the level of formation of professional competencies and clinical thinking. A special emphasis was placed on the system of prevention of dental diseases: from the prevention of pathological processes to their early diagnosis, treatment and subsequent rehabilitation of patients. Considerable attention was paid to the issues of oral hygiene in patients with dental implants. The role of occupational hygiene, the use of specialized products (superfloss, interdental brushes, and irrigators) and compliance with care protocols for the prevention of peri-implantitis and ensuring long-term osseointegration was emphasized.
The event was held in a warm, friendly atmosphere of scientific cooperation and mentoring, emphasizing the importance of the preventive orientation of modern dentistry and the role of future specialists in shaping a culture of public health.
