On November 12, the Regional Scientific Conference «World Diabetes Day: Complications of Diabetes 2022» was held with the assistance of the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine (Postgraduate Course) Department of OSMU.
Inna V. DRUK, MD, PhD, Head of the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine (Postgraduate Course) Department, and the Chairperson of the Conference, addressed the participants with the welcoming speech. She emphasized the importance and complexity of the problem of diabetes, the constant increase in the prevalence of this disease, the need for the mainstreaming of innovative methods for the prevention and treatment of diabetes, both type 1 and type 2, in the clinical work, which will reduce the number of comorbidities and improve the prognosis of patients in the long term. Inna V. DRUK also presented two reports «Biosimilars of analog insulins in everyday clinical practice» and «Diabetes-vitamin D deficiency-osteoporosis: diagnosis and prevention».
Vadim A. AKHMEDOV, MD, PhD, Head of the Medical Rehabilitation (Postgraduate Course) Department, told about the relationship between diabetes and non-fatty liver disease. And Ekaterina N. LOGINOVA, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine (Postgraduate Course) Department, made a presentation about the role of general practitioner and endocrinologist in the control of diabetic nephropathy.
In the framework of this Conference, practicing specialists, who had been taken up the issue of expert assistance to doctors and patients for more than twenty years, discussed the relationship of comorbid diseases and the possibilities of their modern prevention, the mechanisms of development of the most common diseases and conditions, the multidisciplinary view of the treatment of the endocrine system diseases and the possibilities of using multidisciplinary approach in the outpatient practice, the point of view of an endocrinologist on the «regular» pathologies of GP’s patients, and the practical aspects of the use of innovative treatment in real clinical practice.
Teaching staff of OSMU, as experts, presented a number of reports and shared their experience in adapting the developed programs. Natalia Yu. VLASENKO, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Pediatrics (Advanced Course) Department, Chief External Specialist in Pediatrics Endocrinology in the Omsk Region, told about the experience and innovations in pediatric diabetology in the Omsk Region. Igor N. STEPANOV, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Neurology and Neurosurgery Department, gave a talk about the neurological complications of COVID-19 infection in comorbid patients. And Elena V. USACHEVA, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine (Postgraduate Course) Department, introduced the participants to the features of the course and treatment of patients with diabetes and coronary artery disease in post-COVID syndrome.
