From April 11 to 13, Yaroslavl State Medical University hosted the 31st National Student Scientific Conference «Current Issues in Pediatric Surgery, Anesthesiology and Intensive Care».
First held in 1957 at the initiative of Leonid Roshal, the Conference has brought together future and practicing pediatric surgeons for over 68 years. Since the 1970s, students from OSMU have actively participated, earning awards and exchanging professional experience. Today, the Conference gathers delegations from medical universities across Russia and the CIS. This year’s event welcomed students and residents from 52 universities in 45 cities and 5 countries.
The delegation of the Department of Pediatric Surgery and Reproductive Health for Children and Adolescents was headed by Prof. Andrey V. PISKLAKOV, MD, PhD, Head of the Department, and Assoc. Prof. Natalia I. PAVLENKO, MD, PhD, Head of the Student Scientific Society at the Department. The team included residents and senior students: Elizaveta S. PUSTOVETSKAYA, first-year resident; Alexey I. BASHKUROV, 5th-year student of the Faculty of Pediatrics; Alexandra S. KRASHENINNIKOVA, 5th-year student of the Faculty of Pediatrics; and Svetlana Yu. ULYANKINA, 5th-year student of the Faculty of Pediatrics.
The three days in Yaroslavl were filled with educational and memorable experiences. The OSMU students discovered new perspectives, networked with peers from across the country, and met leading pediatric surgeons - authors of research papers and textbooks in the field.
Over the two main days of the Conference, 118 oral and 98 poster presentations were delivered by students. For the past three years, residents have also taken part in the event, with 27 poster presentations and 14 oral reports in the «Interesting Clinical Case» section on the third day.
