Results of the National Student Olympiad «Management and Leadership in Healthcare-2024»

 
On May 16, 2024, as part of the «Week of Preventive Medicine» events holding by the Department of Public Health and Healthcare named after N.A. Semashko of the Institute of Public Health named after F.F. Erisman of Sechenov University, the live stage of the National Student Olympiad «Management and Leadership in Healthcare-2024» was held. Sechenov University has held this Olympiad annually since 2018.
 
The Olympiad was held in two stages. The qualifying stage was conducted from April 15 to April 21, 2024, and included online test solving. 205 students from Volgograd, Voronezh, Kirov, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, Omsk, St. Petersburg, Saratov, Simferopol, Tambov, Tver, Tyumen, Khanty-Mansiysk, Chita, Yakutsk, and other cities Russia participated in the first stage, and only 40 of them made it to the on-site stage.
 
Opening the on-site stage of the Olympiad, Prof. Vladimir A. RESHETNIKOV, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Public Health and Healthcare named after N.A. Semashko, wished all participants to successfully demonstrate their professional and leadership qualities, and also drew attention to the fact that the Department provides training in innovative educational technologies not only to students, but also to PhD students, residents, and Master's Degree students, and therefore all participants in the Olympiad have the opportunity to continue education at this Department in these areas.
 
The chairperson of the international supervisory board of the Olympiad was Prof. Tamara M. SHARSHAKOVA, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Public Health and Healthcare of the Gomel State Medical University.
 
Each participant of the on-site stage of the Olympiad completed three tasks: solving a case problem, working on a case, and completing a practical task. The jury panel assessed each participant’s level of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and leadership qualities. 
 
OSMU was represented by Roman BALANTAEV, 3rd-year student of the Faculty of Pediatrics. Roman successfully passed the first stage, losing very little to students from Moscow and Voronezh in the on-site stage of the Olympiad.
