Scientific Conference «Current Issues of Diagnostics and Treatment of Digestive Disorders»

 
OSMU hosted the Scientific Conference «Current issues of diagnostics and treatment of digestive disorders», which brought together internists, gastroenterologists, general practitioners, PhD students and residents of OSMU, who could either attend the event or join online broadcasting.
The speakers were the leading specialists in the field of di diagnostics and treatment of digestive disorders from medical universities of Omsk and Novosibirsk. Most of them are researchers of OSMU: Prof. Maria A. LIVZAN, MD, PhD, Rector of OSMU, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine (Intermediate Level) and Gastroenterology, Corresponding Member of RAS; Prof. Vadim A. AKHMEDOV, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation, including Postgraduate Training Courses; Sergey I. MOZGOVOY, MD, PhD, Professor of the Department of Morbid Anatomy; Elena A. LYALYUKOVA, MD, PhD, Professor of the Department of Internal and Family Medicine, including Postgraduate Training Courses; Olga V. GAUS, MD, PhD, Prof. of the Department of Internal Medicine (Intermediate Level) and Gastroenterology; and Galiya R. BIKBAVOVA, MD, PhD, Assoc. Prof. of the Department of Internal Medicine (Advanced Level) and Endocrinology.
 
The Novosibirsk State Medical University was represented by Prof. Marina F. OSIPENKO, MD, PhD, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases. She gave two reports, one of which was focused on the current approaches to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
 
The leading speaker of the event was Maria A. LIVZAN, in her reports she focused on the mechanisms of the formation of the overlap syndrome and approaches to treatment of functional dyspepsia and IBS, the role of probiotics in the current and future treatment of intestinal diseases, as well as the role of inflammation and approaches to treatment of biliary dyskinesia in real clinical practice. In addition, Maria A. LIVZAN, together with Olga V. GAUS, presented the 2024 Digest on the prevention, diagnostics and treatment of intestinal diseases.
 
The other speakers touched upon the topics of international and Russian experience of the stomach cancer screening program in the aspect of drug use for cancer prevention; idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis as a possible manifestation of GERD; clinical guidelines, research standards and cut-off criteria in the morphological diagnosis of the diseases of the digestive system; management of patients with NAFLD and osteosarcopenia; extraesophageal manifestations of GERD from the position of comorbidity; differential diagnosis and approaches to treatment of flatulence in the practice of general practitioners and gastroenterologists.
 
Discussion following the conference showed the great interest of the audience and the relevance of the raised topics. The event became an opportunity to exchange knowledge and practical experience on the issues of diagnosis and treatment of digestive disorders both in real clinical practice and in the future in the light of dynamically developing ideas about the pathogenesis of diseases and targeted treatment.
