On Sunday, February 1, OSMU hosted the Shatranj championship tournament at the site of the dormitory of foreign students. Shatranj is the ancient name of a chess game in India.
The chess tournament was organized in two rounds. The first knockout round determined the six strongest chess players from the 24 participants of the tournament, including Shreyash Kailash Palve, Kush, Raghib Aslam, Bhatia Nishil, Prathmesh Santosh Pandey and Sued Zubair Uddin. During the second round, the organizers applied a system of circular distribution of partners. As a result of the competition Shreyash Kailash Palve won 1st place, Raghib Aslam got the 2d place, and Kush was honored the 3rd place.
On February 5, an award ceremony was held for the winners and organizers of the tournament. A lot of students and teachers from the Department of Philosophy, Humanities and Social Sciences, including Sergey P. NAZAROV, Senior Teacher, Prof. Asst. Victoria G. FELDE, PhD (in Philosophy), Elena A. FILATOVA, PhD (in Philosophy), Assoc. Prof. Stepan G. CHUKHIN, PhD (in Pedagogy), and teachers from the Department of Foreign Languages, including Tatiana A. LYUTOVA, Elena Yu. NEKRASOVA, PhD (in Philology), Assoc. Prof. Irina L. MUL, PhD (in Philology), Vera V. PETRUKHINA, attended this ceremony.
