The V International Scientific Conference on Physical Culture, Sports, and Tourism «Student Sports: History, Present, and Development Trends» was held at Siberian Federal University in Krasnoyarsk with the support of the Russian Student Sports Union.

On October 16, the first day of the Conference, Prof. Filipp V. SALUGIN, PhD (in Pedagogy), Honored Master of Sports of the Russian Federation, Professor of the OSMU Department of Physical Culture, delivered a report entitled «Effectiveness of the Kickboxing Program at a Medical University» in the section «Patriotic Education of Youth through Physical Culture, Sports, and Tourism: Historical Experience and Modern Practices».

The second day of the Conference featured several events in which OSMU representatives actively participated. One of them was a foresight session held as part of the educational program, during which leaders of Russian student sports discussed current challenges in organizing and holding sporting events and proposed possible solutions.

Another important event was the III International Scientific Research Competition in Physical Culture, Adaptive Physical Culture, Sports, and Life Safety. A total of 82 research papers were submitted for the first, online stage of the competition. Of these, 15 were selected for the final stage, and their authors were invited to present their work in person.

Among the finalists was Anna SEDELNIKOVA, a 4th-year student of the OSMU Faculty of General Medicine, Chairperson of the OSMU Student Sports Club. She took first place in the «Young Scientists» category with her report «Development of Leadership Qualities among Skilled Kickboxers». Notably, Anna became the first student from a University not specializing in physical education and sports to win in this category.

We express our sincere gratitude to the OSMU administration for its assistance and continued support of scientific research activities.
