From October 1 to November 15, 2025, under the guidance of the Scientific Society for Young Scientists and Students (SSYSS) and the OSMU Department of Pediatric Dentistry, the 3rd National Student Video Contest «Prevention of Dental Diseases» was held.
This year, the competition significantly expanded its reach, welcoming participants not only from various Russian cities, including Yekaterinburg, Volgograd, Izhevsk, Kirov, Barnaul, Perm, and Omsk, but also from Belarus. With the participation of students from Minsk, the event took on an international dimension.
For the third time, the Department of Pediatric Dentistry has organized this unique educational and creative competition, which blends science, innovation, and modern IT tools in a virtual environment. The event aims to merge the creative potential of students with the scientific and methodological knowledge they acquire during their training in primary prevention of dental diseases at specialized dental departments.
This year saw a record number of entries, 80 videos covering a wide range of prevention-related topics. Participants showcased not only their academic expertise but also their creativity and technical skill in filming and editing their videos.
The theme «Prevention of Dental Diseases» offers a wide scope for exploration, and the students managed to cover what they viewed as the most pressing and important aspects. Covered topics ranged from the prevention of dentoalveolar anomalies, trauma, and harmful habits to oral hygiene, fluoride and remineralizing therapies, fissure sealing, healthy lifestyle promotion, and antenatal/postnatal prevention.
The contest entries were evaluated by a highly qualified panel of judges, which included dental practitioners from the Omsk region, deans of dental faculties from Russian universities, and practicing clinicians. The jury assessed each video’s creativity, relevance, clarity for target audiences (children and adults), cinematography, direction, and acting performance.
Given the strong competition and wide geographic diversity of the entries, the jury awarded multiple prizes: two first-place, three second-place, and three third-place winners. The prizes were made possible through sponsorship from Omsk dental clinics «Spartamed» and «OmDent».
