On January 28, 2026, the delegation of the Embassy of India in Russia visited OSMU. The delegation included Vinay Kumar BATHULA VENKATESHWAR, Minister of Education of the Indian Embassy, Sunil Kumar RATHI, Consular Officer of the Indian Embassy in Moscow, and Anurag NAYAN, Consul General of the Indian Consulate in Yekaterinburg. The visit marked an important step in expanding cooperation between the two countries in medicine, education, science, and cultural exchange.
Vinay Kumar Bathula Venkateshwar, Minister of Education of the Indian Embassy, had a meeting with the OSMU administration, including Prof. Maria A. LIVZAN, MD, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Rector of OSMU, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Prof. Elena B. PAVLINOVA, MD, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs; Ivan A. ONUFRIEV, Vice-Rector for Infrastructure Development and Youth Policy; and Assoc. Prof. Olga V. PRAVDINA, MD, PhD (in Medicine), Dean of the Office for International Students. The parties discussed the University's current goals and plans for international activities, educational and scientific achievements and prospects for expanding cooperation, noting the importance of academic and scientific networking between Russia and India.
Currently, 574 Indian students are studying General Medicine with English medium at OSMU. As part of the visit, delegates met Indian students from the second to the fifth year of study, who represented various regions of their country. They spoke to the guests about their academic achievements, their living conditions on campus, and their plans for the future. The students shared their impressions of life in Russia, noting the high level of teaching at OSMU. Indian representatives emphasized the Indian government is interested in students receiving proper education abroad and then returning home with new knowledge and experience.
Later, the guests enjoyed a tour of OSMU facilities, including the Skills Center and the Museum of the Department of Human Anatomy, which highlighted the importance of international cooperation in education.
