The award ceremony for the winners and participants of the final stage of the Interregional Olympiad «Chemistry and Biology: The First Step at OSMU» has taken place.
Before the ceremony began, specialists from the Center for Pre-University Training reminded the audience that the main goal of the Olympiad was to identify the most well-prepared, talented, and professionally oriented students of general education institutions who are capable of mastering higher medical education programs. While completing the tasks, the школьники demonstrated creativity and excellent knowledge of chemistry and biology.
The winners and prize-winners were congratulated by Assoc. Prof. Andrey S. KOLCHIN, MD, PhD (in Medicine), Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Education and Digital Transformation; Prof. Irina P. STEPANOVA, Dr Sci (in Biology), Head of the Department of Chemistry; and Assoc. Prof. Larisa V. CHERNAYA, PhD (in Biology), Head of the Department of Biology.
In the current academic year, 252 school students took part in the qualifying stage of the Olympiad, while 49 students from schools, gymnasiums, and lyceums of Omsk and the Omsk Region, as well as the Republic of Kazakhstan, advanced to the final stage. Among them, 14 participants were awarded first-degree diplomas, 12 received second-degree diplomas, and 12 received third-degree diplomas.
The highest score in the final stage of the interregional Olympiad «Chemistry and Biology: The First Step at OSMU» was achieved by Aleksandr BOCHEEV, a 10th-grade student from Gymnasium № 117. Just one point behind him was graduating Darya SIZIKOVA, a student from Gymnasium № 123. The top three was completed by Veronika MOVSESYAN, a graduating student of Gymnasium № 150.
During the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Irina A. KIRSHINA, MD, PhD (in Medicine), Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee, also addressed the audience. She once again emphasized that the University provides admission benefits to applicants who become winners or prize-winners of the interregional Olympiad «Chemistry and Biology: The First Step at OSMU».
