From October 30 to December 10, 2023, the First National Student Video Contest «Prevention of Dental Diseases» took place with support from the Scientific Society of Young Scientists and Students (SSYSS) and the OSMU Department of Pediatric Dentistry.
Teams from various Russian Regions submitted 39 contest videos, showcasing their creativity and knowledge in preventing dental diseases. This event, a pioneer in using modern IT on virtual platforms in student contests, aimed to combine participants' creative and scientific skills gained from studying dental disease prevention. Videos covered different topics, including preventing dental issues, eliminating harmful habits, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The jury panel, consisting of healthcare professionals and Deans of Dentistry Faculties, assessed cinematography, directing, and acting skills. On December 15, 2023, the results were announced:
1st place went to the 5th-year students of the OSMU Faculty of Dentistry (Kristina I. GAYDOMAK, Maria D. GRITSENKO, and Victoria S. OKONECHNIKOVA). The video by the 4th-year student of the OSMU Faculty of Dentistry, Matvey A. KOROTCHENKO, secured first place.
2nd place was awarded to the 5th-year students of the OSMU Faculty of Pediatrics (Darya A. GOFMAN, Maria Ya. DANILYUK, Alexandra S. ISAKOVICH, Alexandra A. FILIPPOVA, and Adelina M. KHALIULLINA). The team of 5th-year students from the Faculty of Dentistry of Izhevsk State Medical Academy (Liliya D. GAINULLINA, Leyla S. TUKTAROVA, and Alsu I. SIDOROVA) received the 2nd place.
3rd place was shared between 3rd-year dentistry students from Izhevsk (Elina E. OPARINA, Yulia S. TROPINA, Elena D. MOSEEVA), and the video created by 5th-year students of the OSMU Faculty of Pediatrics (Veronika G. DOLGOVYKH, Nikita A. MIKULICH, and Karina Zh. SMAGULOVA).
An Audience Choice Award was determined through online voting, with 2nd-year students from OSMU Faculty of Dentistry (Violetta A. MALTSEVA, Kamilla K. BINYATOVA, and Timofey V. PODBEREZHKIN) emerging as the winners.
Creating videos on the prevention of dental diseases is a significant step in developing digital culture, increasing student involvement, and fostering essential professional skills for future doctors. The videos from our students represent a mix of acquired knowledge, talent, and dedicated effort from each participant.
